Thursday, Aug. 16, was the first day of school for Colfax Elementary School students, and the beginning of the formal school career for 38 kindergarten students. According to school district secretary Terri Smith, the school began the 2012-13 year with a student enrollment of 363, which includes two kindergarten classes with 19 students in each class.
