Colfax High soccer tryouts begin Aug. 8 Soccer tryouts for the Colfax High varsity and JV boys teams will begin on Monday, Aug. 8, at the school’s soccer field. Times for the first week of practice will run from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Varsity coach Jim Logan and JV coach Robert Ruzette are encouraging all players to make sure they are cleared through the Colfax High office. Athletic packets are available on the school’s website under the “Athletics” link. Colfax High’s office will be open from Tuesday, Aug. 2, through Friday, Aug. 5, to accept athletic clearance packets. The office will be open those days from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Youth golf camp tees off Aug. 2 through Aug. 5 Raspberry Hill Golf Course in Auburn, will be hosting a youth golf camp Aug. 2-5. Called TGA Premier Junior Golf, the program will run each day from 9 a.m. to 12 noon and have three goals: To Improve a child’s golf skills and knowledge, maintain a safe and enriching environment and have fun. Cost of the week long camp is $120 and includes a TGA Back Pack, camp t-shirt, ball marker, golf balls, tees, range balls and green fees. The program is open to youths ages 6 to 14. Sierra Foothills fall ball registration open Registration is open through Sept. 1 for the Sierra Foothills Little League’s Fall Ball season. Fee is $25. Play is for youngsters ages 9 through 14. A big date to circle on the Jr. Falcons calendar is Sept. 25, when the local youth football program will be traveling to see the Oakland Raiders and New York Jets play. The Jr. Falcons will be selling tickets to the game ($55) with $20 of each ticket sold going to the youth grid program. As an added attraction to the Raiders-Jets promotion, the Jr. Falcons will be scrimmaging on the stadium field after the game.
