The Post 84 American Legion baseball team of Auburn had an outstanding summer season but recently found itself all dressed up with nowhere to go. The Post 84 squad, bolstered this summer by seven players from Colfax High, came out of nowhere to win the District 10 tournament title in three straight games at Grass Valley. The tourney win then qualified Auburn for last week’s Area I tournament at Placerville, the last stop before the American Legion State Tournament in Yountville. But because of vacations, jobs, and other unforeseen conflicts, Auburn was forced to withdraw from the Area tourney because they only had nine players. According to a Legion post-season tournament rule, a team must have 12 players — nine on the field and three on the bench — to start a game. Colfax High Falcons who helped augment Auburn’s roster this season were Ryan Glazner, Devon Loomis, Dave Campbell, Michael Moore, Sam Guzman, Gary Root and Adam Tricomo.
