Track team sweeps at Lincoln

Bohn, Newman each win pair; girls top shot put, discus

Colfax High’s track teams traveled to Lincoln last week and posted a sweep of all three divisions in the Pioneer Valley League dual meet against the Zebras.

Distance runner Tristen Bohn was a double winner taking the varsity boys 1600 (5:09) and the 3200 meters (11:43.5), while Austin Perry added a pair of victories in the discus (142-3) and the shot put (49-11).

Other top efforts in the boys varsity ranks came from shot putter Joey Boche who was second at 38-6 and 400 meter runner Adam Gutierrez who was second in 56.0.

Colfax’s girls varsity received a first place in the shot put from Maddi Ittner (36-1) and a first in the discus from Shantel Crane (80-10.5).

A double winner for Colfax was Madi Newman who captured the 800 meters (2:36) and the 1600 (5:50). Kylie Shinn, meanwhile, won the 100 in 13.6.

Colfax notched two relay wins in the girls division. In the 4x100, the Lady Falcons’ quartet of Alaina Meyers, Emily Thomas, Brooklynn Pitz and Kylie Shinn took first in 54.4 seconds.

Colfax’s 4x400 team of Newman, Delany Shinn, Raegan Lillie and Kylee Bauer also produced a win with an effort of 4:46.2.

In the JV ranks, Jeromy Cabodi (129-6) took the discus, John Kirwan (41-9) the shot put and Scott Irons (11.6) the 100 meters.

Colfax will compete in Friday’s Del Oro Invitational and then next Wednesday will run at Foothill in a PVL dual meet.
