An apparent road rage incident on Interstate 80 near Auburn involving Sacramento sports radio personality Pat Walsh has taken a turn into court. Two Newcastle men – John Patrick O’Neill, 53, and Cory Taylor O’Neill – have been charged with one count each of misdemeanor battery in connection with a June 1 run-in with Walsh at the Applegate exit. The Placer County District Attorney’s Office said a complaint was filed late last week and the two’s first court date is slated for Sept. 14 in Roseville. Walsh couldn’t be reached for comment Monday but a statement on the radio station’s website after the incident said that he was driving on I-80 and let a big rig pull in front of him. Three men inside a car started yelling and making gestures at that point, KFBK stated. The California Highway Patrol reported an altercation took place when both vehicles left the freeway at the Applegate exit and stopped. Sgt. David Martinez of the Highway Patrol said Walsh was struck during the altercation. The KFBK website said Walsh suffered a cut to his forehead, a swollen jaw and bruised kidneys. – Gus Thomson
