Girls in grades 5 through 8 can attend a pre-school basketball clinic set for Aug. 14-16. Hosted by Weimar Hills girls basketball coach Jill Kirkland and her staff, the clinic will be held from 10 a.m. to noon each day at the Sierra Hills School gym in Meadow Vista. Cost for the camp is $10 per session or $25 for all three days. According to Kirkland, the clinic is being held to give players an opportunity to focus on improving fundamental aspects of their game. Players will work on core fundamentals of basketball and will include offensive and defensive strategies. Players will need to complete a registration/medical form to participate. Forms can be picked up in the Weimar Hills school office. Players should wear comfortable athletic clothing and appropriate shoes and a water bottle. In addition, tryouts for Weimar Hills’ 7th and 8th grade girls basketball teams will take place Aug. 20-22 at Sierra Hills School. Tryouts for 7th grade will be between 3:30 and 5 p.m. and for 8th grade from 5 to 6:30 p.m. For more information on the clinic or the tryouts, contact Kirkland at 401-6010.
