Weimar Hills hosting junior high girls hoop clinics

Girls grades 5-8 urged to attend
Girls looking to get a jump on the upcoming junior high basketball season can do so by signing up for the Weimar Hills Girls Fundamental Basketball Clinic slated to run at Sierra Hills School in Meadow Vista. According to clinic director and Weimar Hills coach Jill Kirkland, the clinic will be divided into groups for players in grades 5-6 and 7-8. The players in grades 5-6 will attend a one-day clinic set for Wed. Aug. 19th from 10:30 a.m. to noon in the Sierra Hills gym. Cost per participant is $5. Girls in grades 7-8 will be involved in a three-day clinic set for Aug. 18-19-20 also at Sierra Hills. Time will be from 9 a.m. to 10:30 each day. Cost is $15 per player or $5 per session. Kirkland noted that the clinic will focus on fundamental basketball skills including dribbling, passing, shooting. The upper grade clinics will include offensive and defensive strategies. Girls planning on participating need to complete an emergency contact form which are available at the Placer Hills School District office in Meadow Vista or at Weimar Hills School in Weimar.
