Tuesday Aug 12 2008 comments Wildfire burns Cape Horn Ridge -A +A Buy This Photo Now By sunset, the smoke from the fire created an eery, yet pretty, picture of Rollins Lake. Cal Fire tankers dumped fire retadant on the blaze. A staging area was set up at Highway 174 and Rollins Lake Road. On hand were fire units from Foresthill, Loomis and Newcastle as well as Cal Fire crews from Washington Ridge. Firefighters climbed the ridge to fight the blaze. An estimated 25 acres burned Monday afternoon on Cape Horn ridge. Cal Fire copters pulled water from Rollins Lake to dump on the fire. Smoke filled the skies as firefighters fought to contain Monday evening's fire.
